My favorite design and architect style is Art Noveau, which is also our chosen the style for this website. The Art Noveau style is inspired by Asian/Japanese art&style and by patterns found in nature such as in plants, flowers and animals. There are a lot of variants and some designs may be quite strict and clean where as others full of floral patterns, peacocks and dragonflies. The art Noveau period started in 1890 and ended in 1914. When the war came, other things than design got important. However, before that houses like this were built.

I could probably just stand outside that house looking at it for about an hour. I have never done that though. But I have been to Glasgow with my husband to look at the creations of another Art Nouveau master, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We saw house for an art lover and Glasgow School of Arts. It feels like climbing in to a totally different world. I want to start by showing some chairs and a table designed by this master:

Or take a look at this bedroom, also designed by Mackintosh.

Good Night!
Here is one of the few pictures I have found that does any Mackintosh architecture justice. Most photos I see reminds me of the Mackintosh places but do not manage to show their true beauty. I think it is a detail from Glasgow School of Arts.

Glasgow School of Arts?
Now for something a little different. This interior is designed by Victor Horta in Belgium:

I now continue with a Swedish Industrial Building. I love industrial buildings from around 1900. The one below is supposedly designed by one of the most talented Swedish Art Noveau architects, Ferdinand Boberg.

I wish I was going to work in this Industrial Building
And here is one more from Ferdinand Boberg where he really shows his mastership. This is the Stockholm Electrical Company, or it least it was around 1900. Photograph from Wikimedia Common/Holger.Ellgaard

Who would not want to pay their electrical bill here?
We are in the process of decorating our home in turn of the century style, with as much Art Nouveau/Jugendstil as possible. To achieve this I look for old things to buy every day on Ebay and the Swedish variety, Tradera. Next time I’ll show you some photographs of some of the things I bought already.
